What would you say is the ONE thing you enjoy most about working at NVR? Why?
If I had to pick just one, I would tell you the one thing I most appreciate about my career here at NVR is the fact that it feels like home to me. Some of my family members and friends complain unendingly that their coworkers and superiors are not polite and are very difficult to work with. The people I work with on a day to day basis and those that I see very infrequently are pleasant and thoughtful. They each treat you more like an old friend and a coworker rather than merely another employee. Ryan is my second home. I’m fortunate to be able to say that I look forward to being at work.

Is there anything about NVR and/or your particular position that you would want job candidates to know. Anything they might find surprising or especially attractive?
A Production position in NVR is the start of a career unlike any other. It may be somewhat difficult to explain to someone without them experiencing it for themselves. . . I have friends and family who dread going to work in the morning and are in a bad mood when they arrive home. They are constantly wondering what to do and/or constantly searching for something new. At NVR, we are treated amazingly well. There are activities, events, and opportunities that are fun, unique, and many times motivational. People are treated fairly and with respect.

Job Autonomy
A career path that begins in production allows you the opportunity to really prove yourself as an up and coming star. You are given information based on certain goals you need to work towards. How you get there is up to you. I enjoy being able to work the way I think my job should be done, not how someone tells me it should be done. This allows me to prove my value in the company by creating new and efficient ways of doing things. Very few companies/positions can offer that.

Job Training and Training for Advancement
NVR has the best training in the industry. From the beginning, new hires get the training they need to take a prospect through the entire sales process. It does not matter how much experience someone has before they start with NVR, by the time the initial training is complete you would have the knowledge needed for everyday sales activities. Training does not stop there; it continues throughout your career. The company looks to its own staff first to fill positions. This is a great draw for the candidate who wants to advance throughout their career. With drive and commitment, opportunities are endless.

Challenge on the Job
In production, there is never a shortage of challenges. Even after you’ve been in production for years, there is always something new to deal with. There are many different scenarios that come about daily and it is our job to handle them. It is a career path that will never bore you. There is always something new to contend with.

What would you tell someone to convince them to choose NVR?
Homebuilding is an industry that is so very diverse. Whether you do administrative work, human resources, accounting, production, or sales, there are opportunities for you. And not only are there these obvious choices, by there is the chance to change positions among them. I started my career doing administrative work and in 5 years became a Project Manager of one of the busiest communities in our division. Anything is possible at NVR.
