Specifically, how does NVR support your career advancement?
No matter what position you are in there is always someone to turn to as a mentor. You may be a sales rep looking to go in management or a production supervisor looking to be a production manager. As a sales associate the sales rep you are assigned to is a great person to look to. They have typically already gone through the same training and steps that you are currently going through and they are in the position that you are trying to achieve.

What would you say is the ONE thing you enjoy most about working at NVR? Why?
The most enjoyable thing about working at NVR is that you can actually make a living helping people with one of the most important decisions they have to make in their life. We are providing a service that does not rapidly expire. The decision people make effects the way they live, raise and family, and enjoy their time in a home. There are not too many industries that can say that is true.

Is there anything about NVR and/or your particular position that you would want job candidates to know?
As a sales rep there are never two days that are the same. The people who walk through the door each day are different, each with a different need or particular situation that needs to be addressed. In the building industry nothing is ever black and white. The people in the industry and the industry itself must be flexible and able to adapt to changing market conditions.

Job Autonomy
As a sales rep there is plenty of opportunity to be your own person…Each sales rep is the mayor of his or her own community. Decisions about marketing, community appearance, staffing, and so on are at the hands of the rep. It gives the rep the opportunity to show managers that they can handle responsibility. If something is incomplete or out of the line, you are the one the managers turn to for answers. Likewise if the community is running smoothly with no hiccups the rep is one who can benefit. This is a great drawing point because new hires have the opportunity to show managers what they are capable of and for those who do not wish to be micromanaged; they have plenty of decisions to make.

Job Training and Training for Advancement
NVR has the best training in the industry. From the beginning, new hires get the training they need to take a prospect through the entire sales process. It does not matter how much experience someone has before they start with NVR, by the time the initial training is complete you would have the knowledge needed for everyday sales activities. Training does not stop there; it continues throughout your career. The company looks to its own staff first to fill positions. This is a great draw for the candidate who wants to advance throughout their career. With drive and commitment, opportunities are endless.

Tell us about your best collaborative experience with your co-workers.
The best corporate experience is Christmas in April. It is a time where both the production and sales staff have the opportunity to help a local family whose home is in need of repair. It is nice to use our expertise in home building for someone who typically would not be able to take advantage of our construction capabilities.
